We welcome parents of children and young people under 18 to join the first 15 minutes of the initial counselling session. This is an optional opportunity to meet together, with your young person and the counsellor, as an introduction to the counselling experience and explore any questions you may have about the process.

At the end of the 15 minutes, parents will be asked to leave the therapy room, and the rest of that first session will be 1-1 and the beginning of the confidential counselling relationship. All counselling sessions last up to 50 minutes and parents are welcome to wait in the waiting room whilst your child has their session.

As a parent, we understand there may be things you want to let us know – how your child is getting on at school, what you feel they may need to work on in therapy etc. We try to limit the amount of knowledge we have about a client before meeting them, therefore we only ask for a small amount of information on our client intake form. We feel that the best possible beginning for a therapeutic relationship is one that is neutral; we are passionate about providing our clients with the opportunity to tell their own story and feel it is important to hear it from them.
